She Remains in Violet

This work is a meditation on “presence” — on the quiet endurance of women whose bodies have been regulated, whose voices have been silenced, and whose existence has been politicized. Immersed in violet, the figure stands between memory and resistance. Violet here is not merely a color; it is a state of being — a bruise, a twilight, a threshold between disappearance and permanence. As an Iranian woman, I carry within me the memory of silenced voices and unfinished lives. This piece speaks to a lived experience in which a woman’s very existence has long been contested, and yet she continues to remain. She does not shout. She remains. And in remaining, she resists.
